WireGuard and Amazon Fire

Use the TekLan app for a direct Fire connection

The supported direct route on Amazon Fire is the TekLan VPN app from the Amazon Appstore or the TekLan APK. WireGuard profiles remain available in the Dashboard for compatible clients, but there is no separate Fire-specific import process to follow.

Selecting WireGuard
1. Choose WireGuard.
Reviewing a WireGuard profile
2. Review and create the profile.

Before you begin

  • Install the official WireGuard application for Amazon Fire tablet.
  • Have your TekLan VPN client-account sign-in ready.
  • Allow the application to save and import a .conf file.
  1. Use the TekLan VPN app from the Amazon Appstore where possible.
  2. Do not treat the Apple TV / console option as a direct Fire installation. It routes a TV or console through a compatible VPN router.
  3. For a manual WireGuard installation on a particular Fire device, contact support so the supported app and import method can be confirmed.

Check the connection

  1. Confirm the imported WireGuard tunnel remains switched on.
  2. Check that the operating system VPN indicator appears where supported.
  3. Open a browser and confirm the public IP address changes.
  4. Switch the tunnel off and confirm normal internet access returns.

If it does not connect

  • Disconnect any other active VPN application or tunnel.
  • Delete the failed tunnel and import a newly generated .conf file.
  • Confirm the system date and time are correct.
  • Note the exact WireGuard error before contacting support.

Use the app or connect Fire through a router

For a direct connection, install the TekLan VPN app using the Appstore or APK instructions on this page. For a network-level connection, install an OpenVPN profile on a compatible router and assign the Fire device to that route.

Selecting OpenVPN
1. Choose OpenVPN.
Apple TV and console router-based option in the Dashboard
2. The TV or console option is router-based, not a direct Fire installation.

Before you begin

  • Install OpenVPN Connect on Amazon Fire tablet.
  • Have your TekLan VPN client-account sign-in ready.
  • Allow the application to save and import an .ovpn file.
  1. Use the TekLan VPN app from the Amazon Appstore for a direct Fire installation.
  2. For a router-based setup, choose Apple TV / console in Connect device, select a supported router and follow the Dashboard instructions.
  3. For a direct manual OpenVPN installation on Fire OS, contact support so the exact app and import route can be confirmed.

Check the connection

  1. Confirm OpenVPN Connect reports the imported profile as Connected.
  2. Check that the operating system VPN indicator appears where supported.
  3. Open a browser and confirm the public IP address changes.
  4. Disconnect the profile and confirm normal internet access returns.

If it does not connect

  • Use Show OpenVPN credentials in the Dashboard if the app requests the private-key password.
  • Disconnect another active VPN before retrying.
  • Delete the failed profile and import a newly downloaded .ovpn file.
  • Note the exact OpenVPN error before contacting support.
