Troubleshooting
TekLan VPN isn’t working on an older Fire Stick
A few older Fire TV Sticks get stuck on an old version of the app, or don’t run the Appstore copy well. Installing the latest build directly usually fixes it.
Short answer: Uninstall TekLan VPN, then install the latest version from teklanvpn.com/latest.apk using the Downloader app. The Fire Stick guide shows each step.
Step by step
Reinstall the latest build
- On the Fire Stick, go to Settings › Applications › Manage Installed Applications, choose TekLan VPN and select Uninstall.
- Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore if you don’t have it.
- In Downloader, enter
teklanvpn.com/latest.apk, install it and open TekLan VPN. - Choose Sign in with a code and enter the code at teklanvpn.com/tv.
Fire TV devices with Vega OS, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, can’t install APK files; use the Vega OS app from the Appstore instead.
