Browser extension

Install TekLan VPN in other Chromium browsers

Most browsers built on Chromium install Chrome Web Store extensions. If yours does, it runs the same TekLan VPN extension as Google Chrome.

TekLan extension for Chromium browsers

Install from the Chrome Web Store

The extension protects browsing inside your browser. It does not route traffic from other applications on the computer.

The current Chrome Web Store version is 3.1.0.

Before you begin

  • Update your browser to a current version.
  • Turn off any VPN built into the browser, so only TekLan routes your browsing.
  • Have your TekLan VPN email address and password ready.
  • Disable any other VPN or proxy extension while testing TekLan.

Complete the setup

  1. Open the TekLan VPN listing in the Chrome Web Store in your browser.
  2. Select the add button (it may say Add to Chrome), review the permissions and confirm.
  3. Open the browser’s extensions menu and pin TekLan VPN to the toolbar.
  4. Open TekLan VPN, sign in with your TekLan VPN email address and password, choose a location and connect.

Good to know

  • Using Brave, Vivaldi, Arc or Opera? They have their own guides: Brave, Vivaldi, Arc and Opera.
  • Microsoft Edge has its own store listing: see the Edge guide.
  • Browsers that cannot install Chrome Web Store extensions (such as Safari and DuckDuckGo) can’t use the TekLan extension. Use a full device setup instead.

Check the connection

  1. Open the TekLan extension and confirm it reports an active connection.
  2. Reload the current tab.
  3. Open a public IP-checking website in your browser and confirm the address changes.
  4. Remember that the extension protects your browser traffic only.

If it does not connect

  • Confirm TekLan VPN is enabled on the browser’s extensions page.
  • Disable conflicting VPN, proxy or privacy extensions.
  • Sign out, restart your browser and sign in again.
  • Confirm your email address and password work by signing in to the client area in a private browsing window.
